Meeting ID: 988 406 816
Dr. Mandar Naik, Assistant Professor of Molecular Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biotechnology at Brown University and the Manager of the Structural Biology Core and NSF/EPSCoR Proteomics Shared Resource Facility
Title: Structural Biology and Biophysics Resources at Brown University
Dr. Naik will cover theory and practice of ITD, NMR, and his research on SUMO (Small Ubiquitin like Modifier) in cell signaling pathways
Mandar is a collaborator on UI’s NSF Track II Grant: Using Biophysical Protein Models to Map Genetic Variation to Phenotypes. He will be visiting UI this week to train researchers on our isothermal calorimetry instrument and help develop experimental protocols for measuring protein biophysical phenotypes. His research interests revolve around (i) Molecular mechanisms underlying cancer cell signaling events particularly cross-regulation of post-translational modifications, (ii) Structure-guided development of a drug candidate for neurological disorders, (iii) Structural analysis of dust mite allergens, (iv) Studies on the evolution of antimicrobial resistance and design of novel inhibitors, and (v) Green chemistry.
