Pilot Projects

The IMCI Pilot Grant Program fosters research at the University of Idaho in areas that combine modeling with empirical data to address complex problems relevant to human health. Pilot grants are seed grants that provide modest funding for new research ideas, projects or collaborations. There is an expectation that funded PIs will submit a new research proposal on the project to NIH or other funding agencies within the near future.

  • Incorporating Bacteriophage into an Experimentally-Tractable Animal Model System (Van Leuven, 2021-2023)
  • Modeling the Chlamydial Development Cycle (Grieshaber, 2021-2023)
  • Multiscale Modeling for Preparedness Against Contact-Dependent Infectious Disease Transmission (Hernandez-Vargas, 2023)
  • Altering Microbiome Composition through Rationally Designed Antimicrobial Regimen (Udekwu, 2023)

New submissions are invited on a regular basis. Visit our Funding Opportunities page for more information on applying.
