Have you heard? College of Science researchers have been awarded nearly $18 million in new competitive grant funding for the 2018 fiscal year. The college has had it’s best year ever despite a very competitive national funding environment. Twelve million has been awarded just since January.

Research and Faculty Development are hosting an informational session on applying for an NSF CAREER award 2:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 3 and 4, (two identical sessions) in IRIC 305. NSF CAREER award recipients will be present (including our own Christine Parent) for Q&A and participants will leave with a resource packet of checklists, templates, guides, references to campus resources and more. It’s definitely worth 2 minutes and 43 seconds of time and gives a great visual overview of the University of Idaho. The quote from Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Kramer, class of ’57, nicely sums up the Vandal devotion to progress: “Make this whole world a better place because you were in it.“

Research and Faculty Development (RFD) will host a training seminar designed to enhance skills that lead to successful proposals. In this session, Carly Cummings, director of RFD, will share tips and guidance for writing competitive proposals across all disciplines. The seminar is appropriate for faculty of all career stages.
